So after another very important SAP Quarter End Team Harambee departed from locations across the world and arrived in Nairobi within 24 hours of each other. A large group of us caught up for breakfast and decided to venture out for a quick lunch and trip to the supermarket to stock up on water. After a short walk from our apartment with great directing by teammate Prajeen we had a bomb check at the entrance to the mall. As our Pyxera Global Kenyan friend George describes, Kenya is low to middle income in Africa. In other words poverty exists and so does opportunistic and violent crime. You need to be aware of your surroundings and act confident. So we withdrew cash, had some Biryani Beef and checked out the supermarket. The quality and variety of the food in the supermarket blew me away. I continued to be impressed later that night at our very first team dinner when I decided to go with a T-bone Steak. This steak was so large that from now on it will be referred to as Caveman Steak and all I can say is they must breed them bigger and better in Kenya than in Australia. In addition, I highly recommend having a Frenchman in your team when on Sabbatical. When the bar is closed they have really nice champagne in their room. So Team Harambee congregated in one of the lovely Serviced Apartments and did a big cheers to the next month we are to spend together with the aim to make a difference. So in other words we have started our SAP Social Sabbatical in style and are excited about the weeks to come.
