In RDS and the content: the process integration view I the final delivery of the goods sold was all carried out in ERP using ERP availability check both at Sales Order and Delivery creation. This is described in process 109 where the delivery creation
with confirmed quantities only works for sufficient stock. But it could be that a SCM system was in place. One functionality is that this can be used for is a global availability check within Extended Warehouse Management. The RDS Global Available to Promise instead checks sufficient stock for ERP Sales Order with SCM APO; this leads directly to a synchronous integration with SCM APO.

Looking at the picture with application components per product and their integration anothercomponent with respective integration can be added: the SCM-APO-ATP component. As shown in the diagrams for process S60 the Global ATP is integrated both with ERP Sales Order and Delivery.
The backorder processing shown in S60 can be neglected for this discussion because it is an option in S60 reflecting order creation for preceding failed ATP checks; this option uses the same integration.
The S60 process still implies that the entire process is continued in ERP based on process 109. However, considering the nature of the entire business context the goods sold might well be shipped by truck. This is for instance implemented with freight planning RDS and here with process TML. The process shows again integration with ERP Sales Order at the beginning. This time the entire integration between ERP and SCM is implemented using asynchronous enterprise services. It is orchestrated similar to a ping pong play starting from the ERP Sales Order right to the Purchase Order and the Invoice for the truck carrier.
Figure 2: integration points for transportation management - ERP purchasing
For each integration point shown in the process flow diagram a component can be added (if not yetintroduced already). For product SCM Transportation Management integration takes place for Transportation Requirements, Freight Planning, ERP Shipment,
Freight Order and Settlement peer-to-peer with according ERP components. For ERP, mainly the Purchase Order and the Supplier Invoice have to be added.
This completes the the integration picture for the discussed packages for products CRM, ERP, SCM APO and and SCM TM.
