After my last post, the next logical step is to talk about checking the profile. Like everything, if you do your job right, you don't need this transaction, but it can be easy to skip steps or take something for granted. That's where this piece of configuration come in. It will look at your profile and give you the quick red or green light on your profile. Let's take a look.
In the IMG, you can find your way to this configuration using the path: Plant Maintenance and Customer Service --> Maintenance and Service Processing --> Basic Settings --> Quotation Creation and Billing for Service Orders --> Check Profile Settings.
In this example, I'm entering in my DIP Profile for the Quotation creation profile.
As soon as you execute, you get this dashboard. I've highlighted the area above that you can click to drill into more details. Now, the important thing to notice is the red light. It tells me that something is incomplete. The best way is to go one by one through the links listed above to drill into the details.
First, look at the sources. You can see the green light, so the sources are properly configured. You also get the full set of details about the sources that have been defined.
Next, we look at the material determination. Here you can see the error that we need to correct. You can see that there are red lights on the far left, but if you scroll along to the right, you'll see the status by line item. Lines 2 & 3 are both connected to cost element groups that don't exist.
Now for the last piece of functionality, you can use the simulation link to see what material would be pulled into the sales order.
Enter in a cost element and press enter.
Here you can see the results.
Overall, a great piece of configuration.
