This section will work exactly like the other number ranges we have already covered. I won’t go into a lot of detail here, but I’ll cover the basics.
IMG-->Plant Maintenance and Customer Service-->Maintenance and Service Processing-->Maintenance and Service Notifications-->Notification Creation-->Notification Types-->Define Number Ranges
This screen should now look familiar if you have already performed this for the service order. We will start by looking at the Number Range Groups. I start here to see what notifications have already been assigned to certain groups. Often I want to use the same group as a similar notification type.
Here you see the groups and the respective names. Also pay close to attention to anything at the bottom. If you don’t have a number range assigned to the notification type you will not be able to use it. Next up, press the mountains to see the overview.
The overview will give you the high level view of everything already configured.
Next we take a look at the Number Range Intervals. This gives you all the different number ranges currently created. Note, if you need a new range you must not overlap an existing number range. This can be a chore, given the number of available number ranges. Keep this in mind.
Now, another nice feature is the display element option. If you pick one of the number ranges, you can quickly see what notification types have been assigned without leaving the screen.
Most of the information I’ve shown is available in multiple places, so always use what works best for you.
