My name is Philipp Eicker and I am doing my vocational training at SAP in Germany, right now I am in Vancouver to spend my practical phase with the “SAP Community Network” Team.
Part of my vocational training is to get to know SAP and its products; it is really interesting to see the development of our product portfolio. In the last few years, SAP has established itself to be a major provider of Cloud solutions.
I’ve observed that companies that want to keep up to date have to deal with future trends. Years ago enterprises had to decide whether to use computers or not. Modern day firms might find themselves asking if they should run their business through the cloud.
‘By 2015, end-user spending on cloud services could be more than $180 billion. It is predicted that the global market for cloud equipment will reach $79.1 billion by 2018’ (http://siliconangle.com/blog/2014/01/27/20-cloud-computing-statistics-tc0114/)
These numbers prophecy that Cloud is a future trend and that’s why enterprises should at least inform themselves about the pros and cons that cloud computing brings. When we speak about the cloud we talk about saving costs, flexibility but also the risk of technical and security issues.
If you are interested in getting to know more about the cloud, then join the SAP Inside Track 2014 in Vancouver on March 3rd . This year's event is collaborated and co-located with the ASUG BC Chapter meeting.
SAP Inside Track is a local grassroots community organized event where SAP Community members come together to share knowledge, expertise and network. Last year, the Inside Track was all about “Big Data.” This year we will hear speakers talking about the Cloud. If you are interested in this event, you can click here to see more information and toregister for the event. If you can’t make it to Vancouver you can also join us virtually - see our SCN Event page for more information.
This event usually sells out, so tell your friends and colleagues and register as soon as possible!
